Traffic Volumes - Refer to Appendix C of this report for traffic flow diagrams. The traffic data was obtained in the year ____. (1) Existing traffic volumes – Include a statement indicating if school buses, farm machinery, milk trucks, large trucks, etc., routinely use the route. ship would then exist between design speed, operating speed, and posted speed limits. RESEARCH OBJECTIVES The goals of this research were to reevaluate current proce-dures, especially how speed is used as a control in existing pol-icy and guidelines, and then develop recommended changes to the design process.

Clear Zone and Horizontal Clearance. What is the definition of clear zone. The Roadside Design Guide defines a clear zone as the total roadside border area, starting at the edge of the traveled way, available for safe use by errant area may consist of a shoulder, a recoverable slope, a non-recoverable slope, and/or a clear run-out area.
The total volume of traffic passing a point or segment of a highway facility in both directions for one year divided by the number of days in the year. 1977. book, periodic daily traffic volumes are adjusted for hours of the day counted, days of the week, and seasons of the year to arrive at average annual daily traffic.
(G) At any intersection of a private road access point with a county road, there must be a sight distance triangle which provides an unobstructed line of sight from a point fourteen and one-half feet behind the edge of the traveled way to a point in the traveled way at least equal to the required entering sign distance (see Standard Plan PW).
Geometric Design. Title 23 USC provides that design standards for projects on the National Highway System (NHS) must be approved by the Secretary of the U.S.

Main-traveled way does not include facilities such as frontage roads, ramps, auxiliary lanes, parking areas, or shoulders.
(Added by renumbering Section by Stats. Ch.Sec. I would define carriageway as contiguous traveled way. Divided highways would have two carriageways comprising the traveled way.
To me, the roadway includes both traveled way and median, where the median is not excessively wide (i.e. concrete or narrow grass) Steve Alpert MIT - B.S. '05, M.S. (Transportation) ' The specific language of the restriction is in the Registry of Deeds at Bookpage along with these plans.

Some legislation providing authorization for signs may be found in the Ministry of Transportation and Highways Act and the Motor Vehicle Act. The main source for the route list information on state highways is Hawaii DOT's Designated Way and Traveled Way Routes maps and route lists, and associated straight-line diagrams for specific routes, for all six major Hawaiian islands (Decemberwith information being added from the December maps I reviewed in May ).
